SETTINGS SCREEN OPTIONS

To get to the Solocator Settings screen, tap the settings button in the camera view (just left of the pencil) or swipe to get to the screen on the right of the camera.

 

CAPTURE MODES

MODES Toggle between – Compass | Building | Street (IAP)
Compass Mode Captures the direction of the photo.
Building Mode Captures the Building face direction, i.e. North elevation.
Street Mode Captures street address and part of the Industry Pack (IAP).
Update address every … ft/m If you move from one property to another, you can select at what distance interval to check and update the address. Choose a shorter distance for inner-city work or a greater distance when further away to help save data and battery usage.
Show capture modes (IAP) This option switches On/Off capture modes and can only show the GPS info bar, showing more of the photo.
Switch modes in camera view This option switches On/Off the ability to tap between the different capture modes in the camera view. Switch this off if you frequently only use one of the capture modes to avoid accidentally switching to a different mode on the go.

 

COMPASS

Use True North When switched off, reverts to Magnetic North.

 

GPS INFO
(Choose what info to overlay on photos)

❂ Bearing (BRG) Direction of photo taken.
◉ Position (POS) GPS position and ± accuracy.
Coordinate format Choose different Lat/long formats or choose UTM or MGRS if you’ve purchased Industry Pack.
▲ Altitude (ALT) Altitude above sea level.
Use Metric Units Switch between Imperial (ft) and metric (m) for altitude, GPS accuracy and distance in the photo library.
Show GPS info with icons Uses Unicode icons instead of abbreviations to segment info.
Locked GPS location alert When switched on, you get an alert to remind you that you’ve moved from a locked location. It pops up when you try to take a photo at the new location.

 

CAMERA

Get addresses for the photo library Photo library has an option to sort photos by location. Sometimes you may take photos out of network coverage, so use this button to get and update the location for photos in the library.
Tilt & Roll Angles On/Off  – Tilt, Roll angles and indicators with cross hair
Landscape mode-locked Auto/On/Off.
Remember camera zoom On/Off  – Remembers the last set camera zoom level even when you reopen the app.

 

AUTO-SAVE PHOTOS TO CAMERA ROLL

Auto save original photos Automatically saves original high res photo to camera roll.
Auto save stamped photos Automatically saves stamped photos with GPS info to camera roll.

 

AUTO-SAVE PHOTOS TO CLOUD

Original Photos When switched on, you can select to auto-save original photos to iCloud and Dropbox or Google Drive with Industry Pack purchased. Autosaving to iCloud saves to a Solocator folder, and you can create or select folders for Dropbox and Google Drive.
Save in subfolder by If selected; photos will be autosaved in date folders when photos were taken or project name subfolders if using the Industry Pack. Subfolders are created automatically based on your selection, and new subfolders are created for new dates or project names.
Stamped Photos When switched on, you can select to auto-save stamped photos with GPS info and Notes Overlay to iCloud and Dropbox or Google Drive as per above.
Save in subfolder by If selected; photos will be autosaved in date folders when photos were taken or project name subfolders if using the Industry Pack. Subfolders are created automatically based on your selection, and new subfolders are created for new dates or project names.

 

EXPORT

Export Photo Size Select the size you would like photos to be exported, emailed or saved to the camera roll. The maximum photo size in the list will differ depending on your device.
Photo Quality Low/Med/High
Clear unused cached files Sometimes you may be halfway through exporting and choose not to export photos and files or export didn’t complete due to no network coverage. Use this button to clear the cache of temporary export files.

 

EXPORT FILENAME

Filename The standard filename structure for exported/emailed photos out of Solocator is “Solocator – Date – Time”.
Using the Industry Pack, you can use several fields for the filename structure. Fields include Project Name, Description, Watermark fields, Street Address, Number# or a User-defined field in the filename. You can also sort the order of all filename fields.

 

NOTES & CAMERA OVERLAY

Date/Time When switched on, the date & time is stamped on the bottom right corner of photos. Select date & time, date or time only.
Date & Time Options Local Date & Time/Local Date Only, UTC Date & Time. Select one of three options is choosing to show the date & time.
Date Format Select from one of the following formats:

  • dd MMM yyyy
  • MMM dd yyyy
  • dd-MM-yy
  • dd-MM-yyyy
  • MM-dd-yyyy
  • yyyy-MM-dd
Date Separator For date formats with a separator, you have the option to select between different partitions (-), (.), (/).
Tome Zone If using the local date and time, you can also show your time zone – On/Off
24hr time format On/Off
Tilt, Roll & Crosshair This switch is only enabled if turned on from the Camera Setting above. Opens individual selections to show tilt, roll or crosshair in the camera and or stamp onto photos.
Tilt: On = font colour to stamp onto photos, Off = grey shown in camera only.
Roll: On = font colour to stamp onto photos, Off = grey shown in camera only.
Crosshair: On = font colour to stamp onto photos, Off = grey shown in camera only.
Tilt, Roll size Small/Medium/Large
Crosshair size Small/Normal
Text colour White/Green/Black, Select a colour that works well for the type of photos you take
Background Gradient Notes stamped on photos have a dark shade around the text to make it easier to read. You also have the option to provide a background gradient for even brighter photos. Use the slider to select how much gradient opacity you would like.
Watermark (IAP) Add your company name or photographer name up to 25 characters.
Font Size The default font size for Notes Overlay fields is 10pts and can be changed to 20pts. The font size alters all fields: Project Name, Photo Description, Watermark and Date/Time.
Show placeholder text The Project Name and Description fields by default, have placeholder text letting you know you can tap on these two fields and add or edit the text fields before you take a photo. You can turn off the placeholder text if you wish to no longer see it in the camera view.

 

ARCHIVING

Email photos as a zip file When switched on, photos selected, including maps, KML, KMZ and CSV files, will be emailed as a zip file.
Export photos as a zip file When switched on, photos selected, including maps, KML, KMZ and CSV files, will be exported as a zip file.
